What's the difference between a deck and a proposal, and when should I use each?

The Answer

A deck is used to attract attention and start a conversation - it should be visually appealing, customized for each specific company, and focus on how you can help them rather than listing all your accomplishments. Keep it concise with highlights of your deliverables and include clickable video links. A proposal is a formal business document used after you've established a relationship and understand the sponsor's objectives. It includes detailed deliverables (branding locations and sizes, social media posting schedules, hospitality offerings, appearance commitments), payment terms, exclusivity agreements, and specific metrics you'll report on. Never send a proposal to someone who doesn't know you yet.
