What should athletes say when reaching out to a small or growing brand for sponsorship?

Answered in: How to get sponsored by BOB The Cooler Company

The Answer

Instead of just asking for sponsorship, tell the brand specifically how you can represent them in the field. Even better, offer concrete value - for example, 'I have a great relationship with the dealer down the street, and I could help you get some sales with them. Is there something we could work on together?' Show that you understand the brand's current needs (like distribution for newer companies) and explain how you can help address them. Be open to starting small with the understanding that what the brand can offer may change dramatically in 6-12 months as they grow.
